It is quiet, makes the waterfall full, and it fits nicely in the pump station with its horizontal orientation and top piping. However, after one year in service (actually less than that since it doesn't run through the winter months in Ohio - it is cleaned and stored indoors) it just died. No obvious reason for the failure. It was $250 when I bought July 2011. It's $243 in August 2012. I can't see paying that much money for 8 months of operation tops. It is especially disappointing since the other reviews suggest such long operation. Must have purchased the only lemon???

Best pump I ever bought, March 12, 2012 Amazon Verified Purchase This review is from: Danner 02670 HY Drive 4800GPH Pump (Lawn & Patio) Purchased this pump in 2009 pump is still working strong used it on a sand filter and a pressure filter with no problems. This pump has a lot more head pressure then some of the sites give it credit. However I would say that the 4800 pump is for very large ponds had about 30 ft of hose and it still flew out of the waterfall box.
Already own 4 of these pumps just bought a 5th
