Works great, June 6, 2011 Amazon Verified Purchase This is the second Cal Pump I have purchased and both are working well. The first was purchased about three years ago with no problems to date.

Works Well, February 6, 2012 By Dr. Z (Seattle, WA USA) - See all my reviews Amazon Verified Purchase Purchased this pump to replace an old one that finally died.
Screw in the outflow, drop in water, plug in & go. Easy as could be.
I never shut it off so we will see how long it lasts.
Much quieter than my old pump & flow is great.
It was a bit confusing whether I needed an optional screen for the bottom. I did not - it has one attached (which does not look quite like the picture - it is flush with the bottom).
I am happy with it so far.
AFTER 3 MONTS of continual use it is still working great. It puts out a ton of water. The screen does not work quite as well as I was hoping. The flow is so high that whatever gets close to the intake screen (frogs, newts, leaves, etc) is permanently stuck to the screen (killing the creatures). The screen can be removed and an inlet tube can be screwed on increasing the intake surface area.
Easy substitute for other Cal Pumps, May 16, 2012 By John K. Estell (Bluffton, Ohio USA) - See all my reviews I ordered this pump to replace a "direct drive" Cal Pump. I wish that the person who designed and installed our pond knew the difference between the two pump types, as the direct drive pumps lasted for only 2-3 years, each time with the seal giving out and tripping the GFCI. This time, instead of just buying the same pump as before, I did some research and found out about the magnetic drive pumps. The nice thing about Cal Pumps is that they standardize their plumbing connectors, so that it was easy for us to replace the old pump with this model.
