Durable pump, July 11, 2009 Amazon Verified Purchase This review is from: Beckett 7115010 Waterfall Pump 5000gph (Lawn & Patio) I have a moderate sized pond, perhaps 4000 gallons. I created a waterfall for it that requires the pump lift the water about 7 feet.
This pump has worked extremely well in this installation. We live in Colorado, so the pond does have moderately extreme weather from summer through winter. The pump runs year round, of course.
I just had to replace the pump a couple days ago... I had a back-up already purchased, and since the two pumps are the same model, it was easy to replace the pump... just unscrew it from the hose fitting and attach the new pump back onto the hose (no tools, but for the waders to get to the pump). The pump lasted seven year. I think that is a very good length of time.
I told my next door neighbor about the pump and he installed one in his pond, probably a 5000 gallon pond, and his lift is about 8 feet. His pump works great and it is still functioning three years later.
The reason I thought to writing this review is that I... Read more

Powerful little sucker, July 12, 2010 By maxGamer (Seattle, Washington) - See all my reviews Amazon Verified Purchase This review is from: Beckett 7115010 Waterfall Pump 5000gph (Lawn & Patio) I bought this to replace our old waterfall pump in our goldfish pond. We were using a sump pump from the local hardware store. Wow, what a difference this thing is! It pumps out huge amounts of water. I think our goldfish have lost about 3 lbs apiece just trying to stay upstream, lol.
Pros:
Pumps a LOT of water. Great pressure if you're emptying the pond for cleaning.
Quiet operation. Very long cord (see desc).
Cons:
No way to hook on a hose for the inlet. Kinda tall when sitting upright.
About the cons: Our pond is only about 2 ft deep so when the water level gets low the top of the pump sticks out. It's about a foot tall when you sit it upright. It's larger than our sump pump we were using before (only lasted 2 years, but wasn't rated for continuous usage) so we have to keep an eye on the water level if we want to keep it looking nice.
Also, it would be a HUGE improvement if there was a way to hook up a hose to the inlet to move... Read more

Quality Product for a great price, July 10, 2010 This review is from: Beckett 7115010 Waterfall Pump 5000gph (Lawn & Patio) This is the first pump I have purchased, but it works great. It does a great job of pumping large quantities of water and handles debris very well.
