Alpine Cyclone Pump 8000 GPH Reviews
Quiet as a mouse and built like a Sherman tank!, August 15, 2012 By Monomer (USA) - See all my reviews This review is from: Alpine PAL3100 Cyclone Pump 3100GPH / 33 Ft. Cord I have been involved with outdoor ponds for over 20 years now and have gone through several different submersible pumps over the years (8 different brands + sizes) and this Apline Cyclone 3100 is hands-down the quietest of them all... it doesn't emit any sound at all once submerged (though it can be used out of water according to the manufacturer, past experience with these 'dual' purpose pumps has taught me that it will last a good deal longer underwater probably because of the cooling effect from flowing water keeping the electrical windings in the motor way cooler than air could). Anyway, twice now I managed to get a pea sized pebble just large enough to lodge into the space between the veins in the impeller of the pump and cause it to seize up tight. After many hours of pumping nothing, the motor did NOT burn up. In fact the first time this happened, when I first tried to open the cover plate and free the impeller (at this point I didn't know there was a pebble lodged in there)... Read more
Just good enough, May 3, 2012 Amazon Verified Purchase This review is from: Alpine PAL2100 Cyclone Pump 2100GPH / 33 Ft. Cord This is a knock-off of something, and was made in some primitive place where nobody speaks english.
The pipe threads are terribly sloppy, as though they copied a worn out pipe die in the mold.
But it was cheap.
So I glued threaded PVC fittings on with gorilla glue and started fresh.
Its been almost a year now, and it's still working.
I have not run it submerged.
Excellent pump, September 29, 2011 By Amazon Verified Purchase This review is from: Alpine Cyclone Pump 8000 GPH I have been using this pump for a couple of months now and it works great. I have a 50' run from the pump to my waterfall, and this pump pushes almost double the water as my Supreme Hydrive at that distance. Plus it is less expensive than other pumps in the 7000-8000 gph range and draws less power as well.
